Administrative Tribunal Remuneration Reporting For the Year Ending March 31, 2011

The Building Code Appeal Board (Board) was established with the proclamation of the Local Government Act, 2006. As an adjudicative tribunal, the Board is independent of any regulating body responsible for administering the provisions of the Local Government Act and any regulated industry. The chair of the Board is responsible to the appointing authority for the Board's performance. The Board operates at arms length from the government in its decision-making capacity.
The Board adjudicates disputes or disagreements between an Authority Having Jurisdiction (Building Official) and an owner or their agent (designer, builder, etc.) over interpretation or application of the British Columbia Building Code.
In accordance with Treasury Board Directive 1/10 (Administrative Tribunals) the Ministry of Energy and Mines reports the following remuneration for Building Code Appeal Board members for fiscal 2010/11:

Safety Standards Appeal Board

The Safety Standards Appeal Board (Board) was established with the proclamation of the Safety Standards Act, 2003. As an adjudicative tribunal, the Board is independent of any regulating body responsible for administering the provisions of the Safety Standards Act and the Homeowner Protection Act and any regulated industry. The chair of the Board is responsible to the appointing authority for the Board's performance. The Board operates at arms length from the government in its decision-making capacity.
The Board hears appeals from decisions of safety officers and safety managers appointed under the Safety Standards Act. These decisions apply to work and products regulated by the Act and its associated regulations, including adopted codes and standards.
